When complete, Mesirow Financial's new headquarters at 353 North Clark Street will be an eco-friendly state-of-the-art building.

Some notable green elements of 353 North Clark Street include:

  • Pre-certified as silver under the LEED-CS module. The building will receive final LEED certification after the building is complete.
  • The building will have a green roof on the "bustle" area as well as portions of the top of the building. Green roofs help mitigate the phenomenon known as urban heat island effect.
  • The landscaped plaza will provide an open green area in the heart of an urban environment. Floyd Anderson of Lohan Anderson Architects sums it best, "The 353 building creates an open urban plaza along with an attractively landscaped rooftop that will be pleasing not only for the tenants, but also the people in the neighborhood."
  • Over 75% of the construction waste will be recycled.
  • A portion of the energy of the building will be supplied through a renewable energy source.
  • A number of the construction products, such as the steel, concrete and drywall, will contain a portion of recycled content.
  • Where possible and feasible the construction materials are from within a 500 mile radius of the project site.
