Mesirow expands Impact Finance Team with addition of Mikiyon Alexander and Ryan Carter

CHICAGO, October 17, 2025 – Mesirow, an independent, employee-owned financial services firm, today announced the strategic expansion of its Public Finance team with the addition of Mikiyon Alexander and Ryan Carter. This growth reflects Mesirow’s continued commitment to support community development, charter schools, and housing work across the United States. It also demonstrates the firm’s ongoing investment in top-tier talent to address the evolving needs of our clients.
Alexander and Carter will join Brian Prater, a current Managing Director at Mesirow, and John Evans, Vice President, on the Impact Finance Team within Public Finance. Alexander will serve as a Managing Director and Carter will serve as a Director. Prater has been with Mesirow for two years and will lead the new team. Impact Finance will work with clients nationally from offices in New York City, Chicago, Richmond and the San Francisco Bay Area.

Mikiyon and Ryan join Mesirow Public Finance with distinguished capital markets track records, working with CDFIs, affordable housing developers, charter schools and other mission-driven partners. Alexander is a leader in the impact finance space and has done pioneering work at rating agencies (S&P Global and Fitch Ratings) and investment banks including Barclays and Momentus Securities. Carter has worked on numerous innovative CDFI and other social impact bond transactions at Morgan Stanley, Prudential and Momentus Securities. Their strategic insight and market expertise further enhance Mesirow’s ability to deliver for mission-driven clients across the country.
