Mesirow Named Top Five “Best Places to Work in Money Management” by Pensions & Investments

  • Chosen as one of this year’s top firms based on employee surveys

  • Evaluation based on workplace policies, practices, philosophy, and demographics

CHICAGO, December 14, 2020 – Mesirow (the “firm”), an independent and employee-owned financial services firm, announced today that Pensions & Investments (P&I) recognized the firm as a top five 2020 Best Places to Work in Money Management.

Mesirow’s capabilities span Global Investment Management, Capital Markets & Investment Banking, and Advisory Services. The firm’s traditional investment management teams comprise approximately 55 professionals across five different portfolio management teams that manage roughly $10 billion in fixed income, equity and sustainable strategies; and $90 billion in currency assets.

“Mesirow’s entrepreneurial spirit has never been more evident than this past year,” said David Egan, Senior Managing Director and Head of Mesirow Human Resources. “While meeting the demands of the marketplace, our employees quickly formalized several impactful initiatives. These successes included a Working Parents Employee Resource Group; a Six-Point Commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; and an active Response Team, keeping our employees’ safety and wellbeing at the forefront. These were all accomplished during an unprecedented period of market uncertainty. Indeed, P&I’s recognition highlights Mesirow’s values-based culture, which invests in its employees’ long-term success.”

“In this unusual year, we learned again that employers that consider the overall wellbeing of their employees are regarded well. The best employers in 2020 are those that have stepped up with policies and practices to support and protect employees’ physical and emotional health, while continuing to keep the focus on clients’ needs,” said P&I Editor Amy B. Resnick. “Our surveys found that the employers on the list were likely to work hard to sustain their corporate cultures, even during times of pandemic lockdowns and continuing to work from home in many cases.”

P&I partnered with Best Companies Group, a research firm specializing in identifying great places to work, to conduct a two-part survey process of employers and their employees.

The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems, and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. This part of the process was worth approximately 75% of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top companies.
