Chief Executive Officer
Shawn Beber is Chief Executive Officer of Mesirow and a member of the firm’s Board of Directors. As CEO, Shawn oversees firm-wide growth and profitability, the execution of strategic initiatives, and shareholder value creation, partnering with the firm’s Executive Chairman and Board of Directors to establish and implement all facets of corporate strategy.
Shawn has more than 25 years of leadership experience across banking, capital markets, risk management, legal, corporate strategy and private equity. He began his career in corporate law before joining CIBC where he held a succession of senior leadership roles and played a key role in the bank’s successful expansion in the US, including the $5B acquisition of The PrivateBank in2017, a foundational transaction for CIBC’s growing US presence.
Shawn serves on the Northwestern Memorial Foundation Board, the Board of Trustees at the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center, and the Board of Directors at the Executives’ Club of Chicago. He is also an active member of the Commercial Club of Chicago.
Shawn has a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario.
