Matthew Olsen is a Managing Director leading the securitized Commercial Real Estate (CRE) lending team. The team’s primary focus is on Single Asset Single Borrower (SASB) securitized CRE loans, Commercial Real Estate Collateralized Loan Obligations (CRECLO) and Ground Lease Financing (GLF). Matthew is also heavily involved in other aspects of the firm’s structured debt offerings, including Credit Tenant Lease loans, Federal Lease Revenue Bonds, mezzanine, and residual value financing. He has directly closed over 125 transactions with a total mortgage valuation exceeding $11 billion.

Prior to joining Mesirow in 2015, he held various engineering roles at Turner Construction Company.

Matthew has served as an Auxiliary Board Member for the Chicago Architecture Foundation, a tutor with Chicago Lights’ Youth Tutoring Program, a member of the MSOE Industry Advisory Committee, and the President of the River Bank Lofts Condominium Association. He is currently an active member of ULI and serves on the CREFC Editorial Board and Advocacy Committee.

Matthew earned two Bachelor of Science degrees from the Milwaukee School of Engineering and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He holds the Engineer in Training (EIT) certification and is a LEED BD+C Accredited Professional. Matt also holds the FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses.
